Endoscope Reprocessing Unit

Endoscope Reprocessing Unit
2013
Located at the RAH campus at Paisley the Endoscope Reprocessing Unit (ERU) provides a service to the day surgery unit and operating theatres.

It was essential that the ERU was close to and directly linked into the day surgery unit. The site had several restrictions, the main being that it was steeply sloping, however the slope was utilised to incorporate an under croft plant area to service the building.

The main building that is close to the new unit is the hospitals Maternity Unit. The main material used on the maternity was blue facing brick and this was reflected in the facade to the new building, where we have used blue cladding panels, curtain walling and facing brick. Siberian Larch timber cladding was also used and this will weather to a blue/grey appearance over time, which will compliment the other materials used.
