Refurbishment of Apex City Hotel

Refurbishment of Apex City Hotel
2016
Ian Springford Architects originally converted an existing 1970’s office building in the centre of Edinburgh into the Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel in 2001.

After 14 years of successful trading, it was felt that the hotel needed to be refreshed to bring the rooms up to current 4 star standards and give the public areas a new identity.

The refurbishment work was carried out in phases over a 3 month period to allow the Hotel to remain open for business. The reception, lobby, bar and restaurant were given a comprehensive make-over involving new floor and wall finishes, furniture, lighting and fitted joinery.
Air conditioning was incorporated into the bedrooms along with re-tiling the bathrooms and fitting new sanitary ware. Case goods, carpets and fitted joinery were replaced in the bedrooms.

The refurbishment work was complete by May 2015 to allow the Hotel to take advantage of peak season. The refurbishment work has already lead to an increase in room rate and occupancy.
