Newcraighall Primary replacement given a first airing

The City of Edinburgh Council has opened a consultation for a replacement Newcraighall Primary School in advance of a formal planning application.
Early concept drawings by Architype and Wardell Armstrong show a split personality between 'formal' brick teaching elevations, contrasted with 'playful' hexagonal tiles for rear elevations.
Extensive grounds bounded by feature walls make provision for a pocket park by the main entrance together with informal play areas including a sandpit, allotments and an outdoor classroom.
An access road and services will be routed to the rear alongside the railway line. Drop-in sessions will be held at the current Newcraighall Primary between 14:00 and 16:00 on Friday and 18:00 and 20:00 on 14 March.
Affordable housing developer Cullross has plans in place for 220 homes on adjacent land.
