Affordable housing developer Cullross and jmarchitects have shared updated plans for a mixed residential development of 220 homes on land east of Glennie Road in Newcraighall, Musselburgh.

A mix of flats and townhouses is proposed set amidst green space with the possibility of retail and commercial elements on a 6.74-hectare site at the junction with Maingait Medway.

Arranged around a linear urban park the proposals include collaboration with Queen Margaret University to the south to improve access to Musselburgh Station.

In a vision statement, the applicant wrote: "The goal of the development is to create a new vibrant residential scheme for Newcraighall, providing high quality, mixed tenure housing and a new urban park which will see the reinvigoration of this site in East Edinburgh.

"We believe Newcraighall has the potential to be an inspiring place to live. Our carefully selected design decisions will help to create a coherent urban environment, strengthening the urban qualities such as vistas, routes, thresholds, public and private realm, and a sense of arrival."

The second public consultation is open for comment until 24 February.

No thanks, commercial units in a residential area? We didn't move here for that.
