Apartment conversion of Tollcross Park Mansion House completes

Spectrum Properties have completed the £1m subdivision of a historic house in Tollcross Park, Glasgow, to provide a mix of rental apartments.

The A-listed Mansion House now contains 13 flats retaining period features such as floor-to-ceiling shuttered windows and set within 80 acres of parkland.

Bill Roddie, managing director of Spectrum Properties, said: “This magnificent building is of massive historical importance to the East End – it is part of its heritage – and the work carried out had to be commensurate with its grandeur.

“The highly skilled team has, in effect, been paying its respects to the building while refurbishing windows and doors, replacing sills and seals, rewiring, installing energy efficiency measures, bringing the roof up to scratch and repointing the entire building.

“The tenants of the new flats will have the whole park on their doorstep, but importantly they will also have a private garden to the back and the side of the building and a barbecue area for summer nights."

Mansion House was built by architect David Bryce 174 years ago in the Scots Baronial style. The refurbishment is by Jewitt & Wilkie Architects.

The mansion retains its distinctive crow-stepped gables, corbelled turrets and gables

This used to be Glasgow Children's Museum once upon a time. Sad now only Edinburgh has one.

@#1 I think this must just be a refurb - there are no Planning or Building Warrant applications for the property (591 Tollcross Road) since the early 1990s. The development company bought the building from Shettleston Housing Association this spring.

So - rewiring, renewing windows etc only by the looks of it.

What will thr million pounds be spent on. It's my understanding the mansion was gifted to the people of Shettleston/Tollcross.

The concierge man with his 2 little yapping dogs is ruining this lovely building. He is very aggressive and confrontational always fighting with dog walkers and waking up residents. I'm going to be going to the police about an antisocial behaviour order. Its not acceptable. This is the most beautiful building I remember it as a wee girl growing up on Tollcross Road. Please address this. He's fair headed, speaks in a foreign accent with 2 small dogs and drives a white vauxhall mokka.

We were rudely approached from a man with 2 small dogs who is the night watchman on the property. He was aggressive towards us and our dog and other passers by. He's grey hair drives a white car and speaks Polish or something like that. I was really frightened. Please can you deal with this matter
