Historic field pattern informs 400 Milton of Leys homes

Highland Housing Alliance has teamed up with Hazledene and Park Lane to develop approximately 400 social, affordable and private homes at Milton of Leys on the outskirts of Inverness.

A pre-application community consultation sets out how the 25-hectare site, currently earmarked for business use, will be arranged within a cross-shaped belt of mature trees.

The design team, which includes ThreeSixty Architecture and Turley, will retain the historic field pattern in the delivery of new homes, commercial and community space in addition to an 'acoustic and visual buffer' to the busy A9.

In a statement, the applicant wrote: "The flat, well-drained land at the site means less hard engineering is needed to make it suitable for building, while its mature trees will help make the new neighbourhood a pleasant place to live.

"The site has strong, defensible boundaries in the form of the A9 to the east and Daviot Wood to the south making the site a natural southern limit of Milton of Leys. The development would be set back from its eastern boundary, with appropriate screening from the A9."

A detailed planning application is to be filed with Highland Council by May.

Looks like it’s been informed by Sim City and carried out by primary aged children.

The greenway would appear to have been introduced after a visit to the site when the pylon line was seen. 400 social, affordable and private homes, I can understand an affordable home but what is a private home? I thought all homes were private are these perhaps for sale?
