RIAS unveil 14-strong RIAS Awards shortlist

The RIAS has named a 14 strong shortlist for their 2022 awards programme spanning the gamut of architecture from a Passivhaus home in Kippen to a community centre in Fife.

RIAS president Christina Gaiger PRAIS commented: “Most of this year’s shortlisted buildings were delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic and are a testament to the resilience of their architects, clients and construction teams in the face of extraordinary social and economic uncertainty.

"Delivering outstanding architecture which pushes briefs, boundaries and the systems we work within is not easy – and I am full of admiration for the teams who delivered this fantastic shortlist in the face of such extraordinary challenges.”

All shortlisted projects will compete for the 2022 RIAS Awards this June with each winner 'longlisted' for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland award later in the year.

This year's jury is chaired by Murray Kerr, founder of Denizen Works and includes Audrey Carlin, CEO of WASP Studios, Tony Chapman, writer, filmmaker and former RIBA Head of Awards and RIAS president Christina Gaiger.

A number of these buildings would be worthy winners in their own right, in my opinion.

Some great buildings here, just a shame that the BBC Scotland channel won't run a programme visiting all these, as opposed to the poor quality stuff they normally broadcast.

A real high standard and pleasing on the eye from the photos at least...some well known practices absent from the list once again i.e Cooper Cromer, 3D Reid and Oberlanders ...tut tut you must try harder for next year!!
