Teardrop extension to expand RNIB Brunstane facility

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is to extend Moulsdale House, Brunstane, with a single-storey extension to enlarge an existing cafe and lounge.

Dunfermline-based Flow Associates are to deliver on these aims with a further 62sq/m of accommodation to improve facilities.

The infill build will rise on an inset courtyard over loomed by a section of glazed curtain wall and raised brick planters, sections of which will be removed for access.

In its place, a smooth white render teardrop extension with Siberian Larch signage will rise.

Opened by Princess Anne in 2004, the Edinburgh facility helps blind and partially sighted people learn skills necessary to enter employment.

The 62sq/m extension will provide useable space within an underutilised courtyard
