Aberdeenshire cottage conversion meets the demands of modern living

Brown & Brown Architects have completed the renovation and extension of a rustic stone cottage and byre nestled among woodland near Sauchen, Aberdeenshire.

Upgrading the existing fabric to accommodate a growing modern family the work saw the traditional stonework remain largely untouched with the addition of a modern extension linking both elements as one large 200sq/m residence.

Additions are clad in blackened vertical timber narrow boards to clearly distinguish new from old.

Cornival was delivered to a budget of £200k by Coldwells Building Company to exacting insulation standards. All openings are designed to maximise solar gain and space heating requirements covered by an air-source heat pump.

Lovely photos, but good luck getting the mop behind that bath!
