Custodians of the New Lanark World Heritage Site have invited students from the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) to continue to work with the attraction after praising their degree show proposals.

This year Stage 2 architecture students investigated new forms of living and working within the former seat of industry and these ideas will now inform future development.

Jane Masters, head of heritage & development at New Lanark Trust, commented: “As a ‘client’, we are excited at the prospect of working with the school again, and developing projects which may, in future, come to fruition on the site.”

A variety of submissions caught the eye of trustees including integrating workshops with housing to encourage arts and crafts, promoting inter-generational gardening along the path to the Falls of Clyde and the creation of a vertical garden village.

The partnership will see a fresh intake of Stage 2 students undertake further work in support of a World Heritage Site Management Plan.

I hope they don't let anyone from GSA have anything to do with fire safety.The idea that GSA learned anything from their own experience went up in smoke after the second time they let the School of Art go on fire.

#1 I agree, these part 2 STUDENTS are most definitely a danger to us all. Look, that model is basically made out of kindling. Unbelievable!...
