Work underway at 56 sheltered apartments in Pollokshields

Specialist retirement builder McCarthy & Stone have begun work on their latest project, a development of 56 one- and two-bedroom apartments in Pollokshields, Glasgow.

Located at Springkell Avenue the McLean Architects-designed scheme will occupy a triangular plot of land near Maxwell Park Station, offering retired residents a customised environment for their needs.

Bringing a strong street frontage to the irregular plot the red brick build will include a range of communal facilities with accommodation arranged around a ‘T-shaped’ plan with lift access to all levels.

Stepping in height from four to three storeys the apartments will include private amenity space and courtyard parking for 40 vehicles.

McCarthy & Stone are also delivering retirement flats in Prestwick and Inverness.

It is hoped the development will free up existing housing stock in the area
