Fife Council gives consent to new Madras College

Fife Council has awarded planning consent for a new Madras College at North Haugh, St Andrews, offering teaching facilities for 1,450 pupils.

The three-storey school has been designed by AHR Architects to replace existing facilities at Kilrymont and South Street and will be reached via a dedicated link road which is already under construction.

Cllr Fay Sinclair commented: “This is really good news and another step closer to having a new Madras College on a single-site, with all the benefits you would expect from a modern, purpose-built school.”

The new school is orientated around a central courtyard sitting below the assembly hall supported by structural columns and enabling the ground floor to be given over to outdoor space.

A double height games hall and twin all-weather pitches will also be provided.
