Richard Murphy submits plans for “upside down” Edinburgh home

Richard Murphy Architects in collaboration with Create Engineering have submitted plans for a bespoke villa to be built within the grounds of an existing home on the flanks of Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh.

Located on Willowbrae the scheme will occupy a sloping plot in an area defined predominantly by bungalows lining single sided roads.

Breaching this orthodoxy the new home will stand on the opposite side of such a street and accommodate three separate levels within the sloping confines of its site.

Described as “upside down” the home is arranged with its main living spaces on the upper levels with bedrooms at the bottom.

Clad in corrugated aluminium the residence incorporates a small roof terrace which affords vantage over the Firth of Forth to the south.

Access will be via a street level bridge to the homes middle storey

Upside down, on it's head, do the hokey cokey, turn around, still looks like the same ol same ol Murphy to me?

Congratulations to Sutherland Hussey and Gross Max by the way, great stuff in Germany.
