Drive through coffee roll out reaches Falkirk

A US coffee chain is continuing its rapid expansion of drive-through outlets with an application to build a new unit on the car park of the Glasgow Road Tesco store in Falkirk.

Hot on the heels of a similar venture in Cupar, Starbucks has appointed Opfer Logan Architects to help erect the cafe while minimising any inconvenience to grocery shoppers.

The standalone unit with integrated roof totem adheres to the requirements of the brand with service areas and bin stores fully integrated within the building curtilage.

In a planning statement the architects wrote: "In addition to its social function, coffee houses like Starbucks are becoming spaces where their customers frequently hold meetings, interviews, and business lunches. Starbucks acknowledges the relationship between coffee houses and the business community, encouraging customers to linger in their stores by providing free wifi along with additional plug points for laptops and hand-held devices."

Complementary landscaping will help to blend the development into the surrounding car park.

It's no doubt helping to reduce car use and increasing sustainability as well on top of providing all these valuable 'community' functions.

Total Chutzpah.

This is another stupid idea which should never get planning permission from the incompetent Falkirk Council. This will add to the congestion on this road already exascerbated by the previous idiotic decisions by the Council. And so people can buy expensive milk with coffee wafted near it. Words fail me!!!

Up till 30 years ago there was next to zero existence of these American Colonial Outposts. 30 years on its like the 90's Green Mile as a large number of people are hooked to this gear.. I've heard of this stuff being referred to as "Dirty Water".
