Leith homes advance with site acquisition

A development of 99 apartments of up to three bedrooms, 35% of which are to be allocated as affordable, has moved forward after Cruden Homes agreed to a joint venture with Evantyr Properties.

The pair acquired a former carpet warehouse and light industrial buildings at 124 Salamander Street to redevelop the site with an urban block incorporating balconies and a landscaped courtyard.

7N Architects won planning approval for the project last summer, easing delivery of a project which benefits from a rear aspect overlooking Leith Links.

Marc Teague, director at Evantyr Properties, added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Cruden Homes on this exciting project in one of Edinburgh’s most dynamic neighbourhoods. Together, we’re bringing forward a development that not only delivers high-quality homes but also enhances the character of the local area through thoughtful design and strong sustainability credentials.”

A segregated cycle path is included in the plans as part of the broader Leith Connections initiative.
