Four heritage-style townhouses to rise on a Dennistoun gap site

Balmoral has begun marketing four semi-detached townhouses designed by DTA for a conservation area gap site in Dennistoun.

22 Circus Drive comprises two stone-fronted villas, each subdivided into two homes, opposite the former Golfhill Public School - itself the site of residential development.

In a planning statement, DTA wrote: "... the proposed dwelling has large bay windows to the front with a turret style forming the top before the slate roof covers the block.

"This proposal uses the architecture around it to influence its style and fills a vacant site which once housed similar dwellings which due to a fire became too badly damaged and sadly had to be demolished. This proposal will strengthen the street elevation of Circus Drive again."

Incorporating roof-mounted solar panels the properties include a large south-facing sun room to the rear.

A bit suburban twee style for what is quite a cool wee inner city site.

550k for a skinny wee house, you're never getting near the costs of the sandstones!

Hopefully these will fall down the same hole which put paid to their Victorian predecessors. This is Greenfield grab cheek by jowl living plopped into a conservation area. Oh, yes, and like the new development due south, faces a listed building in advanced state of decay awaiting initiation of its own redevelopment.

In no way does this design fit into area.
No doubt they will be of dubious quality
No doubt overpriced
Don't know what else to say !

Expanding image 1 shows existing building to left. The new builds are obviously modelled on that design.
