Student shift to conclude Glasgow's Broadway Central

Revised plans for the second phase of Glasgow's Broadway Central development have been advanced by Cooper Cromar that would see an approved 10,000sq/ft office block replaced by student accommodation.

Again put forward by McAleer & Rushe Property the development would infill a derelict site adjoining the Maldron Hotel on Renfield Street with a 16-storey block of accommodation capped by amenity areas on the ground and roof wrapped around a central courtyard.

Early concepts seek to win agreement from Glasgow City Council on the scale and massing which will remain within the overall envelope of the prior consent.

In a consultation statement, the applicant wrote: "It is intended that Broadway Central 2 student development, together with Maldron Hotel will complete the regeneration of this important urban site and will form the next phase of the redevelopment of this entire city block."

A formal planning application is expected this April, meaning construction could be underway in the third quarter of 2023.

What a really beautiful place to live.

Aesthetes everywhere will be seeking out this -as yet- unknown quarter. The views on to the car park area especially tempting.

Cooper Cromar, doing what they do best - lively , detailed, human-scaled with art and generosity of spirit at the heart of everything they do.
