100,000sq/ft office block to complete Glasgow's Renfield Street

Cooper Cromar, acting on behalf of MRP, have brought forward fresh plans for a major office development on Glasgow’s Renfield Street.
Broadway 2 will rise alongside a 300-bed hotel which is scheduled for completion in 2021 and lies just outwith the central conservation area, constituting the last remaining portion of the urban block to be developed.
Delivering over 100,000sq/ft of grade ‘A’ floorspace the latest plan for the site accommodates a ground floor co-working space and a tenth-floor private roof terrace behind a glazed curtain wall.
Outlining the principles behind the design solution the architects wrote: “A simple and elegant contemporary projecting tower façade aesthetic is proposed.
“The mass of the building is broken down by splitting it into two projecting towers and introducing horizontal louvre elements, which help to separate and identify the building within its compact surroundings.”
A stepped ground floor allows a more generous public realm to be created, enhancing the pedestrian link between Renfield Street and Cowcadden Road.
