B-listed Oban hotel reopens following multi-million-pound renovation

A historic Oban hotel has been lent a new lease of life following a multi-million-pound renovation.

Rebranded as No.17 The Promenade the former Wellpark Hotel offers 19 bedrooms, maintaining period detailing such as a Jacobean ceiling.

Led by entrepreneur Paul Sloan the project has updated the building fabric with modern plumbing and air conditioning as well as new interior decor to draw guests seeking a seaside break.

Led by Beaton + McMurchy Architects the project saw a complete overhaul of the B-listed property, originally designed by Charles Wilson in 1862-3. The work included a small new build extension to the rear providing an additional three bedrooms and supporting office space.

60% of the project funding, including site acquisition, redevelopment and staffing costs, was provided by The Cumberland Building Society.

They've painted the inside grey and added a bar. Am I missing something?

This looks great and a welcome change to the usual dated high-teas and Fawlty Towers places.

Looks fantastic. Great to see a new lease of life breathed back into this.

@Nairns Bairn - Yes, I think you're missing quite a lot.
Given the time berating other's work on UR, a life is one thing I could mention.
