Brownfield Braehead build to deliver 119 tenure blind homes

Bellway and George Buchanan Architects have finalised plans to deliver 119 homes for private sale on brownfield land at Braehead following an initial consultation.

A 5.8-acre site has been earmarked for the build which includes a mix of 80 flats and 39 detached, semi-detached and terraced homes, of which 27% (32) will be affordable.

Adopting the density pattern of recent development to the immediate west the design proposals set out how new pedestrian routes will connect to the busy King's Inch Road.

In a statement the applicant wrote: "Following the density pattern of the neighbouring development, the perimeter of the site lends itself to higher density units, creating a clear threshold between the site and it’s surroundings."

All homes are to be finished in render with grey stone detailing. An existing electrical substation is to be retained.

Homes are pushed forward to the street frontage to take prominence over an electrical substation

Lower density homes are provided toward the centre of the site

So tonight, I'm gonna party like it's 1999 (we gonna, whoa)"

Should we maybe plan for the continuation of the Laymoor Avenue axis onto the King's Inch Road?

Nahh, sod it, who even cares.

This is the scheme after the consultation process...... ooft!!
The flatted blocks just make me feel depressed. Surely a better looking scheme can be produced that is cost neutral?

'Tenure blind' in this case means, rather than the social housing looking cheap and nasty, all housing looking cheap and nasty.
