Merchant City gap site looks up with rooftop garden homes

Plans have been finalised for a significant mixed-use Merchant City development that is set to deliver 109 car-free homes above ground floor commercial space on a longstanding gap site.

Artisan Real Estate has followed up a succession of consultations with concrete proposals for four distinct buildings of up to six floors at 65-97 Ingram Street.

Touting its sustainable credentials the AMA Studio designed development will incorporate an elaborate sequence of communal gardens and terraces in the roofscape as well as a publicly accessible courtyard.

A spokesperson for Artisan Real Estate said,“Incorporating the garden terraces and courtyard was something we were really keen to introduce to the city to showcase what can be achieved in a strong urban setting and offer potential residents something truly unique.“

Glasgow, and many UK cities are actively encouraging people to embrace city centre living and we need to create inspirational spaces for that to be successful.”

Four ground floor units range in size from 1,750 sq ft to 2,750 sq ft and will be suitable for work, retail or café use

not a single part changed since the original proposal, loss of open space without any provisions.. internal courtyard or roof terraces is not space for general public..

Open space? It was a car park, not Glasgow Green.
