Gorgie student boom continues with plans for a further 300 beds

Tiger Developments are hosting a public consultation over plans for new student accommodation at Westfield Road, Edinburgh.

Bordering the suburban and southside junction to the main Glasgow - Edinburgh line to the north the site is to be managed by Host, an all-inclusive student accommodation provider.

Around 300 cluster bedrooms are proposed for the vacant site under indicative plans by jmarchitects with properties set behind an area of landscaped ground overseen by HarrisonStevens, partially to ensure development doesn't loom over adjacent cottages.

In a statement, the applicant wrote: "The site is also located within the HSE consultation zone due to the proximity to the McFarlan Smith Pharmaceuticals Company, and the applicant has met with HSE to discuss the development parameters of the site. It is understood that an area of land located towards the south of the application site at Westfield Road is undevelopable, due to the distance this part of the site would be from the Pharmaceuticals Company."

The project neighbours an under construction student accommodation block at 24 Westfield Road.

The planned accommodation sits within a zone that is deemed to be a major hazard

Is that not a surprisingly incoherent looking scheme for JM to be producing?
