Springfield Properties have opened a public consultation into proposals for a brownfield site off Main Street in the Hilltown area of Dundee.

The developer has taken on the former Hilltown market site in the designated district centre to deliver new housing above a mixed-use ground floor.

A previously approved application to bring forward a mix of leisure uses on the site stalled with the failure to find an operator, prompting a change in approach for the prominent site bounded by Cakldrum and Isla Street.

Overlooking the historic Coldside Parish Church the scale of the development will be restricted by neighbouring housing with a desire to create a 'commercial edge' to the Main Street.

A drop-in consultation event will take place in Hilltown Community Centre tomorrow between 10:00 and 19:00.
