Blythswood Hill offices to live again in mixed-use overhaul

Campbell House, an office block at 215 West Campbell Street, is to be reconfigured for mixed commercial and residential use at the hands of Detail.

173sq/m of open plan office space is to be provided on the ground floor including a dedicated bike store. The upper floors are to be repurposed as seven residential apartments, made possible by a three-storey extension clad in bronze metal.

Under the works, existing brickwork and concrete panels are to be power washed with vertical timber louvres installed on the lower floors to provide privacy for occupants from offices across West Regent Lane. Some concrete panels will also be broken out to permit the installation of Juliette balconies.

Plans include direct stair and lift access to a communal roof garden. A neglected interior courtyard will also be improved with new planting.

As part of the work, an existing telecoms mast will be relocated to the rear of the property to remove sightlines from the street.

Additional floor space is to be provided across sixth, seventh and eighth floors

To clarify, this application concerns Campbell House on West Campbell Street.

It is separate from John Smith House on West Regent Street which will continue to be owned and occupied by Unite the Union.
