Paisley training facility to address the construction skills shortage

Plans for a purpose-built training facility in Paisley have been submitted by JR Training Services, a division of the JR Group, to help address an acute skills shortage in the construction industry.

Head trainer Ronnie Charters said: “These ambitious plans could bring a dedicated, state-of-the-art construction training facility to the Renfrewshire area, giving JR Training services an accredited base to deliver some of the industry’s most sought-after qualifications – with facilities that allow classroom-based learning as well as practical skills development.

“Having provided services to the construction industry across the UK for more than 25 years, The JR Group has, like myself, experienced first-hand the lack of skilled labour and training facilities in the local area and beyond."

The Wallneuk Road facility, designed by Mast Architects, will provide dedicated training rooms, office space and break-out spaces where trainees can pick up practical skills in areas such as scaffolding.

Is the old CITB facility in Hillington not available? Would have been better done in partnership with college too

Good. Need to always have people skilled in their professions at the very least. Artisans ideally.
