Five-star Angus golf resort cleared by planners

Plans for a five-star golf resort, hotel and spa at Shanks of Omachie near Broughty Ferry, have been given the go-ahead by Angus Council.

An updated masterplan for the £100m resort has been prepared by 3DReid Architects, delivering 175 guest rooms, a rooftop sky bar and a 1,900sq/m spa overlooking the Tay Estuary and St Andrews.

Welcoming approval for amendments to the hotel design and layout of The Angus, including an entrance hall water feature, Mike Forbes of the Forbes of Kingennie country resort, said: "We will now begin the preparatory work on stage one of the construction programme, which will see building work starting on the golf course later this summer."

The project team includes Ryden, Morrison Construction, Balgair, Manson Architects, Team Niblick (golf course design) and CPC (project management).

Plans for a golf resort were first granted in 2010 with the guests welcome from 2024.

Having 'shank' in the name is a big mistake for a golf course!!!
