Two-storey extension to crown Edinburgh One office block

An Edinburgh office block is set to reach for the skies with an application by CDA Architects to add two additional floors to Edinburgh One at 60 Morrison Street.

The top hat extension is driven by Odysseus Capital Management which wishes to increase available floor space to 85,000sq/ft after purchasing the building for £22m.

Under the plans the existing facade would be extensively remodelled, introducing new staff facilities on lower levels and a large roof terrace affording panoramic skyline views.

Keith Dobson of real estate agency Dobson Scotland said: “Odysseus CM intend to completely overhaul the building to address occupiers environmental, social and governance (ESG) requirements and deliver a building which will be capable of operating without any use of fossil fuel and no carbon emissions.

“The building will be fully futureproofed and capable of accommodating professional, financial and tech companies.”

A proposed completion date for the extension has been set for mid-2023.

Is there no chance to plant some tall trees in front of it to soften the look?
