Representations sought over Hamilton bingo hall flats bid

South Lanarkshire Council has filed a proposal of application notice to develop a former bingo hall at 11 Keith Street, Hamilton, to provide 23 one and two-bedroom apartments.

The authorities housing and technical resources estates department propose to retain the existing B-listed Art Deco facade as part of this work with new build homes replacing the rear auditorium.

As a common good asset, having been bought or gifted on behalf of the authority, representations must be heard before any formal change of use application.

Interested parties should direct any responses towards commongood@southlanarkshire.gov.uk.

A start on-site is likely to be made in July 2021.

This is fantastic news for the bottom cross of Hamilton, the area is in desperate need of regeneration if the town centre is to stand any chance of recovering. Always loved this facade and let's hope the building can be brought back to use as resi as its a challenging site.
