Glenrothes paper mill masterplan breaks ground

Kingdom Housing Association has commenced development on 85 affordable homes for social rent at the former Tullis Russell Paper Mill in Glenrothes.

Delivered in partnership with Campion Homes, Advance Construction and Oliver Robb Architects the homes are the first tranche of an expected 850 new dwellings once the site is built out.

Homes will be arranged on a gridiron pattern as per the masterplan with an area of public open space at the centre, with homes finished in white render, black weatherboard and facing brick.

Outlining their goals behind the development the architects said: "The project team believe that these proposals represent a new, vibrant and attractive destination that will complement the town of Glenrothes.

"They will provide much-needed housing whose design will be focused on an approach that will achieve high-quality modern living which is distinctive, easy to move around, safe, pleasant, adaptable, welcoming and resource-efficient."

The £14.6m project will complete by spring 2022.
