Twin Aberdeen hospital build to progress at the double

A new hospital for Aberdeen is to move on-site next month after NHS Grampian and Graham Construction agreed a £161m contract to build the Baird Family Hospital and ANCHOR Centre.

Land formerly occupied by the Foresterhill Health Centre and Breast Screening Centre has been earmarked for the Norr Architects designed build, which will combine women's services with teaching and research spaces.

The separate ANCHOR Centre will adjoin the existing Radiotherapy Centre and will draw together cancer services from across the North East.

NHS Grampian director Alan Gray commented: “We are delighted to announce the formal signing of the Baird and ANCHOR project. We look forward to seeing the buildings emerge in the coming months.”

Forresterhill is described as Europe's largest healthcare site.
