Mixed-use Gorgie Road build wins planning all-clear

City of Edinburgh Council has given conditional consent to a mixed-use development off Gorgie Road.

Kiltan Developments now have authority to build 28 mainstream flats alongside a further 140 flats and 77 studio apartments customised for the student market. Three commercial units will round out the accommodation mix.

Occupying a prominent position overlooking the Water of Leith walkway the development will expand public amenity to the riverfront with a new shared space and upgraded footpaths.

A spokesperson for the developer said: “The delivery of housing, including much-needed affordable housing, student accommodation and commercial units will assist in preserving the viability of the nearby local centre. We are also providing an attractive frontage on the Water of Leith and significantly enhancing the public realm, including upgrades to the public footpath."

Designed by Susan Stephen Architects the build will include 264-cycle spaces as well as 33 vehicle places in an existing underground storage area.
