Curtain raised on Clarion
Aluminium systems supplier Kawneer, have announced that two types of curtain walling will be installed on a speculative Grade A office project on Wellington Street, Glasgow.

Approved sub-contractor Charles Henshaw and Sons will design and install Kawneer's AA®110 structurally glazed curtain walling and AA®201 unitised structurally glazed curtain walling on the ground and first floors.  The AA®201 will also be used on the second to top storeys.

Designed by architects 3DReid, the £35 million Apsley House project on Wellington Street will see main contractor HBG Construction treble the size of the original 25,000ft2 building into a landmark and contemporary 75,000ft2 office tower with an “excellent” BREEAM rating.

Developer HBG Properties had the original office block demolished and generated interest in the development by inviting property agents to take part in an online demolition game, dubbed ‘Col-Apsley House’, in which whoever demolished it in the quickest time won six bottles of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
