Stirling student residences break ground

Clark Contracts have commenced delivery of a 159-bed student housing development in Stirling on behalf of Maven Capital Partners.

The £13.5m halls are due to welcome students in time for the 2020/21 academic year and benefits from a prime location at Carters Yard off Dumbarton Road in the heart of the historic city centre.

Conceived as a linear rectangular block the six-storey build meets the street with a 60sq/m corner common room, set back behind an archaeologically significant ancient monument wall.

Colin Anderson, partner at Maven said: “We continue to see value in the PBSA sector across many of the UK's regional towns and cities, driven by growing pressures on the existing stock of accommodation, increasing student numbers and a shift in tenants desire for city-centre living. In conjunction with Susan Stephen Architects, Maven has redesigned elements of the building to include more affordable accommodation which is proving extremely popular with students to date.”

Student accommodation plans were first submitted for the site in March 2017 by 3DReid Architects.
