East Lothian Community Hospital handed over

NHS Lothian and East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership have taken possession of East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington ahead of a full migration of patients over the next few months.

The 22,000sq/m facility witnessed the first phase handover of the outpatients department in March of last year. A final phase of work will deliver a car park and landscaping by spring 2020.

Alison MacDonald, chief officer, East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership, commented:

"This hospital has been highly anticipated and will bring huge benefits for patients and carers in East Lothian. In particular, it will enable people to have a range of procedures in a brand new, purpose-built hospital for which they previously had to travel to Edinburgh or further afield.

"It is also a real asset to the community, with public rooms available to local groups, local radio providing hospital broadcasting and the hospital's grounds open to all. “

The Keppie designed community hospital has been delivered in partnership between Hub South East and Morrison Construction.

If you look closely there is already staining under the parapet. Repeating the mistakes made at Forth Valley hospital !

Are they coloured bars meant to make it look friendly? Reminds me of the blood transfusion place in Edinburgh they’ll likely rip down as ‘not fit for purpose’...
