University of St Andrews expand student housing provision

The University of St Andrews has taken possession of the second of a pair of HLM designed student halls at its North Haugh Campus following the handover of Whitehorn Hall last month.

Providing 205 bedrooms the hall is named after US professional golfer Renee Powell and takes the form of a three-sided u-shaped build arranged around a central quad.

Finished in light buff solid masonry and light grey polished concrete cladding panels the property includes prominent double-height study and common area to the west highlighted with zinc detailing. Angled window pods further animate the façade with oblique landscape views.

HLM associate Ross Barrett commented: “Powell Hall is designed to have a wide array of common spaces to foster communication and reflect the University’s mission of interdisciplinary collaboration. These interactions are key in connecting students, and in turn, creating a sense of community in each hall, enhancing the student experience and fostering academic and personal growth.”

Powell Hall was delivered by Campus Living Villages.
