Opinions sought on Kirkintilloch social housing

East Dunbartonshire Council have showcased indicative plans for a new social housing development on the site of their former Kirkintilloch headquarters.

Tom Johnston House has already been demolished since the council relocated to a purpose-built new HQ within the B-listed town hall, enabling the authority to press ahead with plans to build 90 new homes in its place.

Working with Hub West Scotland the authority has held a public event outlining its vision for a mix of social rented and shared equity flats and houses ahead of a formal planning application.

Mast Architects have been appointed to help realise this vision with plans for a ‘gateway’ flatted block fronting Lenzie Road with perpendicular terraces running through landscaped grounds behind.

Comments on the current plans are invited by anna.gribben@eastdunbarton.gov.uk.
