Tourism demand prompts Glenfinnan House Hotel expansion

Proposals have been lodged for a low-key extension to the Glenfinnan House Hotel overlooking the famed beauty spot of the Glenfinnan Monument.

Highland Council are considering proposals which would see the unlisted existing building, elements of which date back to 1775, with small side and rear extensions accommodating an additional eight bedrooms.

In a planning statement Fair Planning & Design wrote: “Using a slightly lower storey height and incorporating a set back distance from the main frontage ensures that the side extension will be complementary to the existing hotel.

“Retaining all trees wherever possible and replanting to compensate for those that will be removed, ensures that the extended hotel will maintain its established setting over the long term.”

Works could commence next year if approved.

Slow news day UR? Had a look at the drawings online to find a picayune and pedestrian proposal, with not an architect in sight. Nice scenery though.
