Foxbar schools campus readied for August opening
Renfrewshire Council has taken possession of an £8.5m schools campus in the Foxbar district of Paisley ahead of its opening in time for the start of the new school year next month.

St Paul’s Primary and Foxlea Early Learning and Childcare Centre has been designed by the council’s own property services team, concluding two years of effort to deliver a modern teaching facilities.

Delivered by Morrison Construction the school has capacity for 236 pupils plus a further 80 pre-five children and 10 adult learners.
In a statement the council wrote: “Staff and children at St Paul's had a say on the new campus colour scheme, choosing the red and grey school colours in the social and reception areas and pale greens and grey in the learning spaces to provide a calm environment. They also had input in furniture choices and outdoor facilities including play equipment.”

The new school includes a canopied outdoor learning space, an all-weather sports pitch and a wooded area where children can tend ‘mud kitchens’ and their own allotments.

Every formal learning space has its own direct connection to a covered outdoor area which itself connects to play areas.

It is indeed unfortunate that the current procurement system all too often precludes all architectural values. This assembly of forms and materials is by any standards a total pox up. Shame on You Morrison Construction.
