Edinburgh’s Small Sites programme gains momentum
Barton Willmore have put forward plans for delivery of 49 homes on behalf of Robertson Partnership Homes at Dumbryden Drive, in the latest installment of Edinburgh's small sites programme.

Dovetailing with a similar project at Royston and other schemes at Crewe Road Gardens, West Pilton Grove, Clermiston, Calder Gardens and Hailesland Place the latest scheme, like the others, targets a brownfield site to provide much needed housing alongside new public realm and through connections.

In their design statement the architects observed: “The built form mass comprises four storey flatted blocks which sit comfortably in the surrounding context with existing 4 storey blocks immediately adjacent to the site.

"The blocks are positioned to provide sufficient passive surveillance over public open spaces and streetscape. The blocks step and stagger to provide visual interest along elevations, with 2 visually strong gables on the southern edge, forming the principal elevation from the main road.”

Homes will be clad predominantly in red and brown multi tone facing brick with elements of white render with living rooms oriented to face the street and bedrooms positioned to overlook communal gardens.
