Premier Inn roll-out continues with Aviemore hotel
Lawrence McPherson Associates have brought forward plans for the latest in a series of Premier Inn hotels around the country with a 60-bedroom establishment on Grampian Road, Aviemore.

Conceived on behalf of Whitbread the hotel will take the place of a service station on approach to Highland town, which sits in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

Faced in vertical timber cladding and zinc the proposal seeks to emulate the form of a typical agricultural barn.

In a statement the architects observed: “The windows contrast with the horizontal emphasis of the barn like form and projecting slender ground floor folded canopy. The canopy holds the glass box, behind which the restaurant sits. This activates the street edge, whilst identifying and protecting the main entrance.”

LMA Architects have produced designs for a series of Premier Inn hotels including Kirkcaldy; Dundee and Oban as part of an aggressive UK expansion push by the chain.

That's a very ambitious car park, with a BMW 6-Series, a Bentley and a Mercedes-Benz SLS. Will this be Aviemore's answer to the Dorchester?
