East Lothian community hospital set for October start
NHS Lothian has confirmed its intent to begin construction of a £70m community hospital next month after financial contracts were signed with the Scottish government.

The Keppie designed facility is being delivered in partnership with the East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership to facilitate collaboration between staff and improve services currently offered at Roodlands and Herdmanflat.

Health secretary Shona Robison said: “The new hospital will be a significant addition to the local healthcare facilities available in East Lothian – bringing services back to the area and helping more patients get treatment closer to home. I look forward to work getting underway and seeing this fantastic new facility become a reality.”

First phase works will see a number of existing buildings demolished to allow construction of a new outpatient department and combined endoscopy/surgery suite.
