Page\Park to build 28 Springburn homes
February 16 201628 homes for mid-market and social rent on behalf of Loretto Housing Association on the site of a former care home in Springburn.
This would see the existing site opened up by creating a series of steps from Edgefield Place to Broomfield Road onto which front doors and an entrance courtyard would face.
In their design statement the architects observed: “The juxtaposition of a falling site and level roof ridges create a series of prominent gables at the radiated block ends which increase the scale of the blocks as they approach the path, building up to the scale of the tenements on Barclay Street diagonally opposite.
“The regular pattern of the blocks is broken up by changes in material which have been chosen to respond to the character of their surroundings.”
Faced in a palette of red, grey/brown and yellow/orange brick the scheme follows the design precedent set by a development of 49 homes in the town centre.
