ICA unveil Glasgow Ibis Styles hotel
January 25 2016new hotel fashioned from an abandoned Edwardian office block managed by Redefine BDL.
The 101 bedroom hotel makes much of irreverent Glaswegian humour in its concept approach through the use of iconography such as industrial cranes, traffic cones and Billy Connolly’s Big Banana Feet.
In a statement ICA said: “We believe that the design creates a fun, dynamic, modern hotel experience unique to Glasgow and among the ibis Styles brand, which will set it apart from other hotels in the city.”
The hotel follows on from ICA’s work for Ibis Styles at St Andrew’s Square Edinburgh which was themed on tartan, thistles and neon stags.
More traditional motifs also make an appearance through the incorporation of several references to Charles Rennie Mackintosh
