Aberdeen Music Hall nets £1.5m funding boost
A £7m bid to upgrade Aberdeen Music Hall has received a financial shot in the arm after Creative Scotland agreed to award £1.5m in funding toward an overhaul of the A-listed venue.

This will see BDP oversee creation of new studio space and a box office alongside renovation of the main auditorium, improving accessibility, flexibility and sustainability in doing so.

Commenting on the award Jane Speirs, chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts, said: “It will allow us to address long-standing access issues and improve circulation – it will literally transform public access making a new visual connection from Union Street right to the heart of the building.”

The funding body also announced that it was making £1.5m available toward a £16.5m refresh of Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre.
