Developed by Govanhill Housing Association and operated by the Mungo Foundation, with Petrie Robertson Design acting as structural engineer, the five storey structure fills a tight gap site within the inner city district.
Providing 17 individual bed sits, each with a south facing aspect, the development is intended to provide an environment which aids the care of its residents.
This sees a generous balcony incorporated to give residents an outdoor sunspace alongside a rooftop garden, part of a requirement to have 50% of the site footprint given over to open space.
Two brick faced staircases book end the development, both of which boast a large vertical stained glass window designed by artist John Clark. This treatment is extrapolated into each individual room which boasts its own decorative panel.
An in depth look at Govanhill will be made in the March edition of Urban Realm.
