More student housing enters planning pipeline in Glasgow
Manson Architects (formerly known as Ian Burke Associates) have submitted plans for a student housing development in the Partick district of Glasgow, adjacent to the river Kelvin.

Submitted on behalf of Watkin Jones the nine storey block will host 201 student beds and be clad in brick pane panels with regular fenestration set against a background of coloured glass panels.

The development is the latest in a glut of student housing schemes to be proposed for the area, which is ideally located for Glasgow University.

Amongst them is a scheme by Hackland + Dore on Argyle Street, making the sector one of the few positive signs for the construction industry.

Why does student housing always have to be awful? I know times are hard and pretty pictures cost money but I doubt any amount of photoshopping would make that scheme sing.

Can someone explain, cos I is thick. They are glasgow uni students. WTF does glasgow uni not build proper halls, get the rent for themselves, as they must need it and maybe sell them food as well. They could tie the deal up with students when they arrive, they would probably get a premium and it would be just like oxbridge. Seems obvious. What am I missing?

As for the scheme 'taking its cue' from the old 'Mill O'Partick', let's face it, its just another godawful massive nondescript block

also...where do we go and live when the whole of glasgow is made up of stuff like this...i'm so pleased this is a positive sign for the construction industry even if it's a pretty bad one for the human race particularly the poor sods who will be living in it.
