Allan Murray Architects’ design for the final phase of developer BUREDI’s Coalhill residential development in Leith has been granted planning permission. Coalhill 2 will continue the architectural style of phase one and will consist of 39 apartments overlooking the Water of Leith, grouped around a private courtyard accessible from Parliament Street. An open-access landscaped play area will also form part of the project.Ian Wall, chair at the EDI Group, said: “Over the past few years, Leith has been transformed into a vibrant and exciting place to live and work. Coalhill has played a significant part in this and we believe Coalhill 2 will enhance the attractiveness and appeal of the area even further.” Work is due to begin on site this summer.
Alan Murray Architects will also be working with CDA to create a masterplan for the New Street bus depot site in Edinburgh’s Old Town, after being appointed by developer Mountgrange Capital. The disused bus depot building would be demolished to make way for offices, shops, flats and an arts centre, worth £150million.Local residents will be consulted before planning permission is sought.
