Archial Architects have won outline planning approval for the largest residential development to hit Lochaber in 30 years.

Lorne Developments are to build some 301 homes will be created at Caol, Fort William, a third of which will be affordable.

Predominantly two storeys the properties will comprise a mix of detached, semi-detached, terraced and flatted units.  A village square will be sited at the centre of the development providing retail space, an enhanced playpark and a pavilion for a local sports club.

The masterplan for the site groups buildings around a series of cul-de-sacs with homes set back from the street and benefiting from extensive landscaping and will enjoy dramatic views toward the Nevis Range
