Heritage is the main event at Glasgow's newest venue

Glasgow's newest events venue has opened its doors for the first time at the weekend as part of the AC Hotel by Marriott off George Square.

The Collector's Hall marks the start of a new era for the A-listed former City Parish Hall, which has been sensitively repurposed while making the most of its vaulted ceilings, ornate stonework and a glass-roofed courtyard.

Craig Munro, general manager of AC by Marriott Glasgow, commented: “... I’ve had the privilege of watching this extraordinary building evolve—from a forgotten parish hall into one of the city’s most exclusive destinations for weddings, events, and conferences.

"With over 240 beautifully designed rooms, including heritage suites overlooking George Square, we’re offering something truly unique: a fully integrated venue experience in the very heart of Glasgow.”

Open for weddings, events and conferences the venue will target the city's business community as a place for product launches, awards and corporate dinners.

Very nice. A lot of thought & sympathetic to the area. Wish there was more of this.

Yes it looks great and yes there should be more restorations like this. If Glasgow had gone ahead with the Bruce plan this would not be here and there would be no standing in for NYC in movies. Glasgow would look like Milton Keynes

That's a really cool space. Well done to the developers!

Very nice renders, can we see actual images of the completed spaces, or is that being overly ambitious?

In answer to your query #4, I have been in the space and those aren’t renders.

What I would say is it is great to see both the Parish Halls and the Inland Revenue buildings back in sustainable use as part of Chris Stewart Group’s Love Loan development.

Wearing my Glasgow City Heritage Trust hat we welcome this good outcome for Glasgow’s heritage as we helped grant fund the apprentices on the project who were assisting with the conservation repairs required to both buildings.
