Linlithgow care home to break ground this summer

A joint venture partnership between Morrison Community Care Group (MCCG) and CCG has delivered its second planning success with approval for a 60-bed care home and 18 houses for private sale at Edinburgh Road, Linlithgow.

Following the template laid down by a sister project in Anniesland the West Lothian scheme is again designed by Holmes Miller. Outlining the rationale behind the consent the planning committee wrote: "Locating a nursing home and flats within a predominately residential area and within 400m of local shops, the railway station and on a bus route makes for an appropriate and sustainable location for a use of this type of development.

"Overall, taking into account the design of the buildings and the previous appeal decision, the scale and design of the proposed development is acceptable."

The care home double act marks a push by MCCG to become the largest developer in the rapidly expanding UK care home sector.

CCG managing director, David Wylie, added: "The majority of the build programme is supported by our in-house divisions with full construction services complemented by manufacturing, utilities, M&E, joinery, plumbing and flooring installation.

“At a time when it is becoming more and more difficult to get on-site, these two projects will help sustain jobs as well as creating opportunities locally within our supply chain.”

Construction is expected to get underway this summer for occupation by the end of 2025.
